Vessel Fact blends two very distinct fields. Shipping and data have been tied together ever since the start of Lloyd’s List in 1734. Over the last four decades, they have become ever more deeply linked.

In the quest to make shipping safer, digital technology and compliance requirements have multiplied together. This reduces commercial and environmental risk, but the administrative overhead it creates brings its own complex challenges.

Many of these have a common root. This can be captured in a single question that is increasingly difficult for shipping companies to answer:

“Are you on top of your data?”

Vessel Fact is where shipping and data expertise come together. We believe the maritime industry deserves technology built by people who understand shipping, supported by people who have lived it. Our team is a meeting of minds, where maritime experience mixes with technology know-how.

Some of us have been around shipping all our professional lives. Others are career data and technology professionals.

Our visionary leadership comes from those who have worked with both tech and data within the shipping industry for the majority of their careers. This gives us clarity, steering what we do and how we do it.

We’ve seen technology move forward, solutions iterate, and learned from the good and the bad. Now with Vessel Fact, quite simply, be assured. Our mission is to do better.

Compliance simplified.

  • Chief Sales Officer

    Jeroen de Man

“Shipping runs in everything I do, from the moment a product needs to move across the water to its final destination. Every step in between, that’s me.”

Jeroen has spent close to 40 years in the maritime shipping industry, in roles spanning IT, Operations, running his own shipping and consulting company, and, for the last decade, working in different roles like sales and consultancy, implementation and product design roles at Q88, a vessel information and questionnaire platform widely used in tanker vetting, later acquired by Veson Nautical.

Working as a true Maritime Expert for companies similar to Vessel Fact. He has seen the industry from the inside, and knows exactly where compliance software makes life easier, and where it just gets in the way. At Vessel Fact, he’s using that experience to help build something all users will actually enjoy using.

Off the clock, Jeroen is a proud Dutch “Rotterdammer” by birth and a Brielle local at heart, still close to the town’s social life and traditions, including his role as “Burgemeester Koekebakker” during the annual 1 April celebrations in Brielle. These days home is Portugal, where he lives with his wife Jasperina, their two Siamese cats, and their French bulldog, still very much connected to shipping, just with better weather. In his free time, he’s usually at the gym, cycling, or out on the paddleboard at sea.

Stephen believes meaningful innovation begins with understanding. His leadership philosophy emphasizes curiosity, continuous learning, and genuine partnership, creating technology that strengthens relationships rather than replacing them. Under his leadership, Vessel Fact is committed to delivering exceptional customer support through experienced maritime professionals who understand both the software and the operational realities of commercial shipping.

  • Chief Operations Officer &
    Co-Founder

    Catherine Mancuso

“The best software doesn’t ask people to change the way they work, it understands the way they work. I believe maritime technology should be built by people who have lived the industry’s challenges and never lose sight of the people behind every voyage.”

With more than two decades of experience in the maritime industry, Catherine Mancuso began her journey at sea, working aboard oil tankers and earning her U.S. Coast Guard Second Mate’s License. After coming ashore, she spent 15 years helping build Q88 into one of the maritime industry’s leading software platforms, serving in a range of leadership roles before becoming Chief Operating Officer.

At Q88, Catherine helped drive the company’s global growth, establish international offices, and build an industry-leading customer success organization. But what mattered most to her was the relationship behind the technology. Working closely with shipowners, operators, charterers, and other maritime professionals around the world, she developed a deep understanding of how the industry actually works, and, just as importantly, what customers expect from the companies they trust.

Following Q88’s acquisition, Catherine stepped away from the maritime industry and, together with her husband, pursued a very different adventure: they purchased a beachfront restaurant and bar on an island off the coast of Belize.

After five years of island life, she realized how much she missed the maritime community, and the relationships she had built throughout her career. She also began to recognize how much the industry had changed, while one thing remained constant: maritime professionals still wanted technology that understood their world and people they could trust.

Catherine co-founded Vessel Fact with a simple belief: maritime software should be built by people who understand maritime.
